As we were zipping back to the electronics section in Wal-Mart, we happened by the jewelry cases, where we were awed by their new edition: a selection of iPod nanos and shuffles. Like seeing a fish out of water, we spotted these Apple mp3 players sitting next to cheap Timex watches and Casio Baby Bombs (or whatever they call them). Odd, we thought. You little guys are far from home. Maybe Wal-Mart thought the sales figures of their iPods would go up if they snuck them in next to random items. An iPod classic with your broccoli, maybe a Shuffle with your bar soaps. Perhaps an iPod touch beside that delicious ham in the deli. “Hey, give me that fine rump roast and… throw that iPod in with it.” Maybe old Wally decided they needed to make room for their blowout iPhone sale (read $2 off MSRP!!!!!) and moved the Nanos across the store.
